Welcome to Alex Bryson in April 2023 !
Alex Bryson will undertake 12 hours of teaching on the subject of ‘Women and Minority Groups in the Labour Market’ (in English); they will open to ENS students (including from the Department of Economics and from the Public Policy program) and students of the Master in Economics at PSE.
The course is scheduled: Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (March 28, April 4 and 11) and Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM (March 31, April 7 and 14), room R1-07, Jourdan Campus.
The lectures/seminars will examine the experiences of women and minority groups in the labour market. They will consider the barriers they face in entering the labour force and progressing in their careers, including the role played by stereotyping and discrimination. They ask: what factors affect differential treatment of majority and minority groups in the labour market, and those of men and women, and what are the policy implications? There will be a particular focus on the size and origins of the gender wage gap and what can be done to rectify it.
Key concepts
- discrimination; pay gaps; gender; ethnicity; disability; minorities; correspondence studies
Alex will also give two research seminars one at PSE and one at CMH on labour topics and will advise doctoral students in Economics. Alex is already the co-author of researchers at Jourdan, in particular Thomas Breda (PSE) and Philippe Askenazy (CMH).
